SOLO PILATES

Move with more understanding, precision and confidence. Your Pilates Solo session is tailored to your body, your goals and your experience. Work on the mat, reformer, chair or barrel — often combining several approaches in one session.

Perfect for refining technique, working towards a specific goal, navigating an injury or simply getting more out of your Pilates practice.

Why choose a solo instead of a class?

If you’re new to Pilates, you’ll have the time and space to move at your own pace. If you’re a complete beginner, your teacher will start with the basics. If you’re an experienced mover, your teacher will challenge you. If you’re injured or rehabilitating, your teacher can ensure the material is exactly tailored to your needs.

Whether you stick with weekly solos or transition to classes (do do a blend of both!), dedicated time with an expert teacher is always a great place to start.

A tailored approach to Pilates at Mo.Co.

Our approach to Pilates is rooted in the classical Pilates repertoire, combined with contemporary movement science and our Body Literacy methodology. We use the Pilates system as a framework — not a fixed formula.

Our team has a range of backgrounds and experience allowing us to pair you with the perfect teacher (or teachers) for you. Dealing with complex issues like scoliosis, guiding women through pregnancy or helping to get the root of chronic imbalances or postural issues – our team has the experience and skill to modify the content and pacing of your session to help you reach your goals.

We work will people of all ages. Our specialised equipment allows for easier access for those who might struggle to get down on the floor. And, students who are at peak athletic performance can be challenged!

Like any good community space, everyone is welcome.

Is Solo Pilates for me?

Yes. You don’t need to be experienced, flexible or fit to get started.

Solo sessions can be particularly useful if you:

  • Are completely new to Pilates or movement in general
  • Want to build confidence before joining a class
  • Want to deepen an existing practice
  • Feel like you’ve hit a plateau
  • Want to work on a particular movement or skill
  • Have a specific physical goal
  • Prefer individual attention
  • Want to understand your body better
  • Simply enjoy learning about movement

If you’re managing an injury or health condition, let us know when booking so we can make sure you’re matched with the right teacher and approach.

What to expect during a session

  1. Consultation & Assessment – We’ll talk about your experience, how you’re feeling and what you’d like to get from the session. Your teacher will look at how you move and use this to shape the session.
  2. Learn and Practice – We’ll work through movements and exercises appropriate to you, with individual guidance and adjustments throughout.
  3. Take it with you – You’ll leave with a better understanding of your body and, where useful, some ideas you can take into your classes or your everyday movement.

Our Reviews

Frequently
Asked
Questions

How often should I have a Solo?

For best results, practicing once or twice a week is ideal. If you’re taking classes, adding a monthly or bi-monthly solo is a great way to boost progress.

For beginners, three 40 minute solos or two 60 minute solos is a perfect way to jumpstart your progress and ensure you enter classes feeling confident. Our Solo Intro Offer can be used for both options.

How early should I arrive?

For your first session, please arrive 10 minutes early so you have time to find us and get settled. After your first visit, you can comfortably arrive just a few minutes early.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Grip socks or bare feet are required. We sell grip socks at the studio.

Do I need Pilates experience?

Not at all. Your session will be adapted to your experience and ability.

Can I book if I have an injury?

Often, yes. Please tell us about any injuries or relevant medical history when booking so we can match you with an appropriate teacher and adapt the session.

Can I book a specific teacher?

Yes, subject to availability.

Can I use a Solo session to prepare for a class?

Absolutely. Solo sessions can be a great way to build confidence with the equipment, understand the fundamentals or work on something you’re finding challenging in class.

What equipment will I use during a Solo?

Yes. Depending on your goals, your session may use the Reformer, Mat, Chair, Barrel or other equipment. To learn all about our Pilates equipment, click here.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes. If you’d prefer to work with another person, we also offer Duet sessions.

Can I cancel my Solo?

Yes. Cancel at least 24 hours before your appointment and your solo credits will be returned for you to use later. If you ‘late-cancel’, credits are not returned.
